Volleyball is one of the most popular sports for students at Queen’s High School. On average, we have over 20 teams playing annually in the Junior and Senior competitions. We have had success at all levels, and compete annually in the Otago Senior Open Tournament, Senior and Junior Otago Championships, Senior Satellite Tournament and Junior South Island Tournament. We have had many wonderful students (past and present) representing Otago in the U17 and U19 age groups.
Due to the extensive growth at Queen’s in roll size and volleyball popularity, we offer training sessions for semi-competitive and social teams on Wednesday lunchtimes with our student volleyball coaches to learn new skills and techniques. Our Junior A and Senior A teams are provided with regular training sessions throughout the season.
Competitions
In Term 1 and Term 4, Senior teams play on a Thursday night and Junior teams on a Monday night, either at the Edgar Centre or a local school gymnasium. Games last approximately 45 minutes and some weeks it is a requirement that students assist with duty for other games.
