For each newsletter we have decided to feature an Ex-Girl, and our first one is Virginia Green – QHS 1983 – 1987. You can read this on our Alumni page (see link above)

OUR FIRST EVENT OF THE YEAR
For those living in and around Dunedin our first activity for the year is a BBQ fundraiser at Mitre 10 on Saturday 3 May. Everyone loves the smell of sausages cooking on the Barby. Come along and say hello to our ex-girls working that day starting at 10am.

Queen’s High School’s 70th Celebration
Many of you will have seen or heard that the school ran a lovely assembly in February to mark the wonderful milestone of 70 years. They invited a small group of ex-girls to the special assembly that was held. It was a wonderful event and just gets us all in the right space to start planning our BIG CELEBRATION to mark 75 years of Queen’s High School. This will be held in 2030!! If you are interested in assisting in any way, please let us know. We will be keen to set up satellite groups from other cities in New Zealand and around the world.

OUR SECOND EVENT FOR THE YEAR – will be our AGM and GET TOGETHER
A special invitation is extended to those close by to come to our get-together on Monday 9 June at 7pm at school. All our formal business will be conducted quickly and smoothly allowing time for ex-girls to mingle and wander if they wish. Watch out for our next newsletter with more details on the fun night we are planning.

ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS/DONATIONS
These are due by the date of the AGM each year but can be paid any time before via internet banking. Our account is Westpac 03 1732 0010970 00 Queen’s High School Ex Girls Association. Or use the above link and click on the photo of the school.

It is with a sad heart I read in this morning’s paper of the passing of Margaret Mills, an amazing teacher of Science at Queen’s from 1980 – 2001. Such a vibrant and wonderful teacher whom so many of you will remember.

I look forward to keeping in touch with you and maybe see you at one of our events.

Regards
Colleen Lyons
