Football at Queen’s has proven to attract reliable, committed players who work hard at developing their skills. They enjoy playing with girls across all the year levels and while some of the players play for clubs on the weekends, we also have opportunities for new players to join a Queen’s team as well.
We are fortunate enough to have ex-New Zealand age group players and coaches who hold New Zealand Football coaching accreditation coaching at Queen’s High School. We have had students from Queen’s go on to have New Zealand age group representative opportunities, as well as ex-student Lara Wall gaining a professional contract with the Wellington Phoenix in the 2024/25 A-League season.
Practices for 2025 are as follows:
1st XI - 3.15pm-4.30pm, Mondays, Tonga Park
2nd XI - 3.25pm-4.30pm, Tuesday, Tonga Park
3rd XI - TBC
Competitions
The Dunedin and South Otago Secondary School Girls’ Competition is held on Thursdays at 4.00pm at various venues around the city, with one game each season in Balclutha as a possibility. The usual Dunedin venues for games are Tonga Park, Tahuna Park, and Logan Park Turf.
The season usually goes from early Term 2 until the end of August.

During winter tournament week the Queen’s 1st XI team has had the privilege of playing in the New Zealand Secondary Schools National Tournament which alternates between Nelson and Taupō. In 2024, Queen’s High School competed at Nationals and finished 12th in the country.
